Inquiry Corner with Mr. Vaughn

Owl Icon"What are you doing and learning when you go to library/media class, my child?" This is a question you may frequently ask your student every day of their life. In the month of December, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have wrapped up our Nearpod experience when it comes to how companies will use digital tools to alter images and videos to help sell their products. In K and 1st grade, we have been sticking to stories that connect and extend their units of inquiry as well continuing to foster their learning of computers. Currently, we (except kindergarten) are in the middle of our Winter Paint Contest. This will take us all the way up to winter break.

When we return from break in January, we are going to hit the ground running with research skills. K-5th grade will be using computers to learn new ways to research information efficiently (through lessons that extend off their units of inquiry). The research method we will be using (Super3/Big6) is not only applicable to school work, but any sort of task. The same method 5th graders use to gather information on why families migrate to different parts of the world can be used to help a 5 year old learn to tie their shoes! 2019 is going to be the best year yet!

See You Next Year,
Mr. Vaughn
